I'm a wanna be angel

Rather than continue on with this blog and modify the past to suit the future, I've created a new blog called I'm a wanna be angel. Should you be interested it can be found at imawannabeangel.blogspot.com. If I ever decide to resurrect the bug-a-day endevour this blog will be waiting here for me.

Cricket Squared

So this is the verdict... I am going to return to blogging but I'm gonna tinker with the title and mission. I'm thinking of calling it Cricket Squared - less constraints for a bit so that I can post during these times that a specific project is difficult to pursue. I'm such a square, I can't help but follow the rules so if I haven't created a bug-a-day or a hipstamatic print to post I won't post. With new 'rules' I can keep up momentum and then insert a project or subject when I can devote time and attention to one. Essentially this will be a public journal until inspiration strikes and time allows for something more noteworthy to blog about.

Here is one of about a thousand pictures I took on our recent vacation. Not only do I love the subject, I like the contrast of the black shadows and white surf... I've taken better but this one just makes me smile. :)

Dog Days of Summer

Its already been a busy summer with my young bounty hunter being on summer break and us doing all the fun summery things his active imagination can think to be done. Our vegetable garden has taken off like wild fire (but threatens to wilt in all this heat). Mother's and father's have been celebrated and several of us in the family are a year older. We're about to embark on a fun vacation to the ocean and fantasy lands to remain unnamed. Today we speak with a contractor about starting various projects (which I of course have attempted to design in part or in full) to improve our home. I desperately needed a summer wardrope so have invested not only money but time in creating one which fits my lifestyle, body shape and persona. Think polished with an artist twist. An eating plan and exercise has been worked into my daily routine. I'm woefully behind on my garden design project which needs to be completed by September, but it has gotten some time and attention too. The same can not be said of finishing off my last botanical illustration to get my certificate this fall. If all that has not been enough to occupy my mind and resources, I'm also doing a bit of career soul searching, pinpointing skill sets, interests and the like. This all got me thinking about blogging and my defunct 365 day project and how I miss it. Both the weekly blogging and the daily requirement.

I believe I will give starting this up again some serious consideration over vacation and see what comes of it. I may resurrect my photography project or do a daily silly drawing. All I know is despite all the creative demands on my time and energy, I still have an itch to do this. I do hope my few followers who have scattered might return.

Hopefully the Tour-de-Fance and the Olympics this summer will motivate me in this and not side-track me from it.

Cheers,

Day sixty

The beautiful weather gave me spring fever so I started thinking again about my garden and how my front yard really needs improved curb appeal. I spent my creative time sketching out some rudimentary patterns which help determine a layout. They are not even enough to scan and post, but I will work more on it tomorrow and post whatever I come up with. See my mind is still always working creatively even if I'm not focused on bugs.

Obviously this project has morphed a bit. If you like the idea of a 365 day project, I do have another one that I've been doing concurrently. Its at hipstafifteen.blogspot.com if you're interested. Its not as fun for the viewer/reader as creepy crawlies I know, but I believe it will actually make it to day 366 :)

Bug fifty four

Mash-up

I think my decision is to do a mash-up.  I want to forge on. I like having a daily requirement but I have other things on my plate that also need to get done, discovered or tried.  You'll continue to see bugs, but don't be surprised to see other works of creativity.

Cheers!

Update

Those of you who are attentive will notice that days fifty three and fifty four are conspicuously absent. Unfortunately I've been recovering from a stomach bug which I do not think gets to constitute having "created" a bug for the day. I had anticipated that I might be sick during this 365 day period but my assumption was that I would be sneezing and coughing and would just have to push through if that happened. The fact is that I never expected to be laying on the bathroom floor incapable of standing on my own much less creating more than fever induced delusions. What does this all mean then? This is my project and my rules I suppose and I left them pretty loose so that I could be successful. Nevertheless the essense of this endevour was to create a bug every day for the year. I did not set up this project like Julie Powell where she could take a day off now and again as long as she completed all the recipes in the Art of French Cooking by the deadline.  Basically what I'm saying is that I have failed to complete the mission. Regardless, the project has not been a failure. I've made it nearly two months and have gained some valuable insight and a few new skills.

I think what I will do is take the next 24 hours to decide how I would like to proceed.  I'm just starting to feel a bit like myself again so I will need the time to think clearly and decide. I guess we'll break for a word from our sponsors then. Stay tuned...
